The Amazing, Vanishing Hendrix Returns!

Two months and two days. That is insane. So has been our lives. Starting with the computer virus, things have been crazed around here.

The boy is not only all over like one of those super bouncy balls (which is exhausting to watch) and he has had lotsa tummy issues. Not to be tacky, but my beans were either shampooing the "mess" out of the carpet (thru his pants) or nothing for a week. He was crabalicious for sure. Now he is on Miralax and we're hoping things level out. He's also had more reflux flair ups and that has made getting him to eat or sleep hard too.

Thru all this, we also got mice, and...roaches! eeeeeeeeeeeeeew. I mean, I'm all for killing bugs for fun, but those things are nasty. My mom was ready to take me and the stinky boy and leave home. Luckily things seem under control now. They were "wood roaches" that are supposed to be in trees and not the really bad ones, but still.  My mommy keeps saying "we're clean, we don't leave nasty stuff out, we're clean." I say, check my litter box and you won't be able to say that.

The bug spray dude said with all the rain we've had and our walk out basement along with the woods right behind our house, we just created a perfect storm. The mice apparently came in to the garage for the grass seed and slipped into a hole and wound up in the basement Mancave! We never saw them in the rest of the house, but I wasn't allowed in the basement for 3 weeks while the traps were set. Nothing was caught so they're hoping they were gone even before the pest dude came out.

I was bummed I didn't get to see (ahem eat) one, but we've been locking the basement door at night due to break ins in the area. Mommy said I'm lucky I didn't eat one cause it could have made me sick. I think it would have been nice to play with one though...

My beans have also been trying since last May to have another blurpy thing (why I have nooooooooooooo idea). They got kinda lucky last October but that glimmer left us in December 2011. No luck since and since this month marks a year, mommy has been bummed. So basically, she  has been a b*tch on wheels from worry and lack of sleep.

We've had some good hang out time, but it's been hard for her to be "expressive" with both my blog and even with her scrapbooking. She's been reading a lot, which works out for me cause I get lap time.

All isn't downer stuff of course. Mommy still loves her job and it is going well. She put in her vegetable garden, expanded the bird and butterfly garden and added annuals in pots for more hunmmingbirds. She has already dehydrated some fresh nip leaves from MY very own nip plant to store for me.

This is the turkey vulture kept mommy company while she planted and dragged a dead squirrel across the yard, pausing only to eat it, until they both disappeared into the woods. It kept looking at mommy working in the garden like she was going to try and take it away. She said, dude, it's yours, but the bird didn't believe her.

Daddy got a new position at his work that means more green papers and he doesn't have to work so late at night. That has been nice cause we really missed him. He is doing really well at it too.

Joel aka Tole has been a typical almost three year old. I've become his new best friend and favorite toy. Seriously. Seriously. He isn't the most coordinated kid and hugs have a tendancy to flatten me. Mommy has pulled "stunt double" kitty out, but stinky boy (and with his tummy issues I can't stress that nickname enough) isn't falling for it. We have found mutual affection over music though. Daddy's old keyboard!

Mommy has decided it is time to come out of her funk and get back to what is important in life.

We are so so so sad to hear Perfectly Parker will be going to the Bridge tomorrow. She was one of our earliest friends on the blogosphere and has a special place in our hearts. Her family will dearly miss her.

Weirder on Wednesday

Joel-a-saurus Rex thinks Hendrix wants to play. He doesn't.

Wow, it has been a while since we've posted. Tons of crazy stuff has happened since then including mommy getting a horrible virus on her computer. When a computer gets sick, the beans get very upset. It was called a "boot kit root kit" virus and the fixer beans had to wipe the entire computer. Virus making beans are evil and should be beaten with rose bush branches a lot! Mommy would sic Bendrix on them if she could.

Luckily mommy backs up all her files on an online server called Calibrate (calibrate.com) so she didn't lose anything, but it is taking ages to redownload all her software. We highly recommend this service!

We'll be posting more soon once the computer is back on track. Even my blog files (when we export to save it) get backed up online!

Man, stuff around here just gets weirder and weirder.

Midnight Monday - Photographer in Training

Yup, he is taking pictures of me, she is taking pictures of both of us. It must be hereditary, a sickness.

Mommy is trying to take pictures from different angles and stuff. Nothing fancy, just something to make the scrapbook pictures look, well, different.I say, leave me alone, I finally have a sunbeam.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to all my awesome blogging friends. An especially happy smoochie day to my sweet lady cat Brandi.

Here she is basking in warm sunbeams.

I thought I'd share a sweet moment from Saturday in honor of the day. I had my yearly appnt at the evil VET and got all my vaccinations (I'm doing good - more on that later). When mommy told Joel that I had owies on my back and he needed to be extra gentle with me, he gave me a kiss so "Joel make it aaaaaal better"

Yeah, even I got a little warm feeling toward him for that. Mommy was so happy she already had the camera out so she captured the actual moment and not a recreation!

Hope your day is full of stinky goodness, toys and lotsa lotsa love!

Great news!!!! Mason Update

Hi! Luckily the first updated news we have is great news. Thank you so much for your purrs and prayers. They really helped! Here is the update:

"Thank you all SOOO much for your prayers! Mason was able to come home with us
today, and it appears he will make a 100% recovery. No permanent organ
damage. He'll still be on fluids and meds for awhile, and of course, no park
(that's really sad...), but he's going to be OKAY!"

He can only go in the yard for limited periods of time and no walks or trips to the park. In time the damage to his kidneys will heal. That is such awesome news. We actually have sunbeams for the first time in 6 days today. I think even the sun is happy. I'll celebrate by napping in one of those sunbeams.

Bendrix is so happy he is going to knock over all the picture frames and hide in the stinky boy's tent

BTW, Mason's humans had to have blood work done to make sure they didn't have the disease too. So far so good but it takes 4 weeks to know for sure they are all in the clear. purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs

Purrs and prayers needed please

I know I haven't been around much, but I need many many purrs and prayers today.

My woofie cousin Mason is very ill. You can read his rescue story here

Here is the updated email we got from this morning.

"Was not himself this week so I took him to the vet. Most people wouldn't have
even noticed the few times he was "off". But I'm lucky enough to see him a lot
and really understand his normal.

They did bloodwork, and he had really elevated sodium in his blood. He has
severe kidney damage. Still working on the cause. Could be a bacteria infection,
could be worse. Not sure if we'll know today or not. We're just up here laying
on the floor of the vet with him. He's acting fine, just tired, and on IVs.

We'll update you when we know anything or later today, whichever comes first....

Please send him love. "

The VET thinks it could be Leptospirosis.

It has only been three years since the evil cancer took Sonny, their woofie that came before and we aren't ready to lose another family member.n

Please keep Mason in your purrs and prayers.

Where are the lovely sunbeams??

Even tho it was cold over the weekend (ice storm on Friday!), we had some great sunbeams shining in. Today, today, just wind rain and cold.

My beans have been busy busy with work and cleaning stuff and also sick. I've been on nursing duty and I am totally wiped out. We did lots of this stuff these past couple weeks.

My mommy was so tired she didn't even check her email for four days! Everything is settling back to normal and we'll hopefully get back to blogging regularly.

My mommy even cleaned out her email box. She unsubscribed from every story email she received but two and also all the emails from groups she has donated to. She just kept losing good emails with the spammy stuff.

She hopes this will help declutter her brain too! I think it will take something more like a shopvac to do that. ha ha ha

My beans have also been exercising and eating better. Luckily no one has said the "D-I-E-T" word to me. The year of the dragon is starting off with nommy treats for me!

Thinking We May Have Bonded

Damn. This tent is pretty cool. It almost makes tolerating the stinky boy worth it...

Maybe it could be our clubhouse. We could come up with a cool name. Like the Fe-lion Kick Butt House Panther's Rule and Stinky Boy's Drool club. I think we'll have trouble putting that on a t-shirt though.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

ah, nothing like sleeping in with my human daddy on a chilly, Sunday morning.

We appear to have recovered from the New Year's Eve party and my beans have spent the week dismanteling the Christmas holiday cheer. The tree is still up but that will come down today. I'll miss hiding from the boy under there.

Recovering from the Bengals' big loss last night will take longer than my beans' hangovers last week. I never knew that cats could roll over like that. I mean, I've seen dogs do it, but never cats.

It was a surpurrisingly good season so we all got our hopes up. Total bummer of an ending tho. We're comforted by the fact that the Bengals are the youngest team in the NFL and the Steelers are just getting older and older.
