Today we will honor those innocent victims and heroes who lost their lives on September 11th. We will also pray hard for and remember the loved ones left behind. Please take a moment out of your day to be greatful for all you have and tell those close to you how much they mean to you.
I am posting a special memorial for Michael L. Hannan one of the victims of the September 11th attacks. I am doing this in coordination with Project 2,996 a wonderful site I just found out about. I hope next year all 2,996 victims will be assigned.
Michael was 34 years old and working as an Assistant Vice President at Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. in World Trade Center, Tower 1, 98th floor the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.
He was described by neighbor and friend Chuck Abar as "the tree trunk and his friends were the branches. His supervisor, Noreen Laplaski, recalled how he fostered camaraderie through his presence and his passionate involvement in a variety of corporate athletics.
His guestbook on legacy.com shows how years later he is still missed and remembered with smiles and tears.
Please remember Michael's family today. Wife, Andrea, and two young daughters, Rachel, 5 (in 2001), and Alexandra, 22 months (in 2001). "What drove Mike was how much he loved Andrea and the girls," Mr. Abar said.

Mommy still remembers that day as if it were yesterday. She was at her desk when her boss came out and said "A plane just flew into the World Trade Center." Mommy pulled up cnn.com on her computer and radios came on. They all just thought it was a terrible accident. They then watched in disbelief as the second plane flew into the second tower. Everyone came out of their offices and just stood frozen.
At the time mommy smoked. She remembers at one point going out for a cigarette and a good cry session and looking up at the clear blue sky and being surprised it wasn't dark and bleak. It just felt like it should have been. She always remembers that moment when she thinks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal,
Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

My Kate was watching late-night TV with a friend (it was 10 or 11pm here in Australia when it happened. Tuesday night used to be an awesome girlie TV night back then, Ally McBeal, Dawson's Creek, Felicity...) when the program was interrupted with the special coverage.
She stayed up half the night watching it, and went and filled her car up at a 24-hour petrol station in case it was World War Three or something. An overreaction, yes, but it was still so scary, all the way down here.
We join you in remembering Michael, and the other 2,995 victims. Purrs.
I remember that day as if it were yesterday too. I can remember my mum phoning me from work to tell me a plane had hit the World Trade Centre in the US. At first I thought she was joking.
Then I turned the news on just in time to see the second plane hit the other tower.
I can also remember the skies going eerily quiet, except for the fight planes scrambled to protect Windsor Castle in case there was an attack.
I cannot believe 8 years have past since that day.
Mum remembers watching the whole thing on TV down here in Australia. We are taking a moment to remember.

Mum was living in Singapore when it happened. She was getting ready for bed when she got a message on her phone saying turn the news on. It was awful. We are remembering with you.
What a wonderful tribute. We didn't know about the project 2,996. Hope to participate next year.
We'll never forget that day.
What a wonderful tribute to Michael and that day. We will keep his memory in our hearts and his family in our prayers along with all the others who tragically lost their lives that day.
(((HUGS)))
I'll never forget either. I was a senior in college and my roommate woke me up to watch the coverage. I can't believe it was 8 years ago. It seems like yesterday.
thank you.
we will never forget, nor ever fully recover from this great loss.
We will never forget that day...the day that changed the world forever...nor will we forget those that were lost that day....
Like Khyra's Mom when we first heard on the news upon waking up on the west coast we thought what idiot pilot can't miss the WTC? Then we heard another plane had hit the second tower and thought--We have been attacked--Actually we though didn't we read something about this plot in a book?
What a terrible day it was ! I just came back from my painting course when I heard the first news. So many innocent people died. As the WTC was very international lots of families here were also concerned. My son lost a friend in there.
we will never ever forget.
Beautiful post. We too are remembering.
What a touching post. The day still makes my mom cry. We didn't know about Project 2996 either; next year we'll do a better tribute for this lady.
Lovely tribute and post. We too remembered 9/11 on our bloggie yesterday. We must never forget.
Purrs and hugs,
The Kitty Krew
Great tribute, we will definitely get in on that project next year.
9/11 will always be like the day JFK was assassinated, you will always remember where you were, what you were doing, who you were with, and where you watched the coverage from.
We have heavy hearts this whole week ...
purrs,
theodore, sasha, and jaime
