Tip Tuesday

I wanted to list this tip to keep us safe, but please see my Eddie memorial as the most important.

We kitties have lotsa soft fur and we can jump high and love to explore. Now although we are very agile and usually don't knock things over, we do sometimes make a misstep. A lot of us also have long, long tails. Because of this, our very responsible beans don't light their pretty decorative candles to keep us safe. KC reminded us of this danger in her post about the poor woman in Houston who, as many of our beans would, tragically passed away in a fire caused by a tipped candle while rescuing her kitties.
Not only could kitties knock over a candle, but sometimes beans are tired and forgetful and they don't blow out the flaming candles before they leave the room or go to bed at night. this is very dangerous. Mommy thought it was sad she couldn't light her pretty candles like these:

Well, a couple of years ago, my mommy discovered these really neat substitutes!

As you can see, they work really well! This is the "fish bowl" in the cat figure in a pitch dark bathroom.

Since mommy bought these in early 2005, there have been lotsa different types, and even colors! She buys hers at Michaels Arts & Crafts.

Midnight, Man Cat, Mail (Male?), Mommy's Back, Monday

Hi! I've had a crazy couple of days. My daddy took my mommy for a relaxing weekend and although I felt abandoned and lonely, my grandma and grandpa came to visit. It was a good thing to because when grandma picked me up, it jiggled my belly and I bomited up a soft bitey mouse that escaped notice (these aren't left out when I'm not soopervised - now you know why!). I got lotsa extra spoiling and attention (they're good at that) after the bomiting. Then when my humans got home, they felt so bad, I got even more spoiling and attention. Has this happened to any other kitty? Mommy is worried over after effects. The mousie was intact by the way, tail too.
Anyway, off the subject of my bomiting, I have a belated Valentine photo (since my beans were gone) that shows I am one spoiled big man cat. I'm allowed on the dining room table, and after mommy and daddy ate their special Valentine dinner, I got some extra stinky goodness, on a white linen tablecloth surrounded by "candles."

And before you ask, yes, the village is still up....and yes, those are red soft paws.

Then when I couldn't get more excited about mommy and daddy being home, she showed me that I got mail! Mail just for me!
Sweet Mama Laura and Mu Shue sent me a wonderful card saying "thank you" and the card had a black kitty with yellow eyes like me on it, and best of all, it had 2 pictures of Mu Shue inside! Mommy hung the photos and card on the fridgerator down low so I can sniff them whenever I want! Thank you so much Mama Laura. The we all love the photos.

Then guess what, I got the 2 bookmarks from Artsy Catsy they made to raise money for Mu Shue. Mommy put them with the pictures of Mu Shue so I could check everything out. The bookmarks are so cool! Mommy put one in the book she is reading now (The Survivors Club by Lisa Gardner) when we took a nap under my Purdue blankie this afternoon! They are such cool bookmarks.

Then, oh then, just when I was about to take a nap I was so overwhelmed...Mommy opened an envelope addressed to me all the way from Hawaii!!!!!!!! Sweet Pumpkin was nice enough to send me a bunch of fev-vers from his birdie friend Quincy.

Now, I would never really hurt a birdie (exceptin' the Starlings, OK, not even them) but I just looooooooooove these fev-vers. I got them stuck on my nose! I chewed, I batted, I played! I had so much fun. Thank you so much Pumkin, Pumkin's mommy and most of all Quincy for sharing his fev-vers.

I totally gotta' go to bed now cause technically it is Sunday night (mommy can't post easy on Monday even though she can comment during her breaks...)

Tune in to my Tuesday Tips to see how to enjoy fun "candles" that are safe for kitties, woofies and sticky little people.

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day isn't just about romantic love. It is also about sharing how you feel with those close to you. So, before I send adoring thoughts to my Brandi, I want to say, to all the wonderful blogging animals and their beans who support each other, laugh together and enjoy each other, I want to say how glad I am to be a part of this great community. Thanks for welcoming me in! Happy Valentine's Day!
Sweet Brandi and Carol. I'm so sorry that this Valentine's Day is so stressful for you. If I could wave a magic wand and fix it, I would. Take care and know a lot of people are thinking of you and wanting to help.

Here are some flowers to help cheer your mommy up.

I'd give you the moon if I could reach it.

Another Sunday Midnight Monday - So, So cool

Guess what?? This Midnight Monday I am sooooo proud. Not just of being a House Panther this time either, but because my sweet Sugar Pie Brandi is a PUBLISHED AUTHOR! Yup, you read me right. I gots my wonderful book "We Are the Kitties...Read this or I'll Bite You" put together by the great Max's mommy in the mail.

My mommy opened it for me right away. There it was on page 12, Brandi's poem. Ah, it is called "Feline Love" and it is wonderful.

Mommy worked yesterday, but today (Sunday) we lay on the sofa and read this wonderful book, by our wonderful friends and I asked mommy to read "Feline Love" over and over again. She did. My chest is all puffed up I'm so proud!
So today, today, Monday, when you read this, I will be on my sofa, with my paw around my book dreaming of my sweet Brandi. I'm so proud.

UPDATE: We just read over at my Brandi's bloggy that because their apartment needs so much work, they are being forced to move. They live in Twin Cities, Minnesota and if you have any ideas on how to help, please leave a comment on their blog. Or, just leave comfort thoughts for them.

Mom Robyn Appreciation Day

We loves you Mom Robyn! You're so kind and thoughtful. You worry about everyone else first and you go out of your way to help and you love those you've never even met. You're a special and unique person. If the world had more people like you, it would truly be a better place. You totally deserve this day and many, many more. Thank you for all you do and for caring so much. Happy Mom Robyn Appreciation Day!!

And for my sweet Valentine Brandi...
If I could... A Valentine for My Sugar Pie
If I could be the afghan that warms your dainty paws
If I could snuggle next to you on soft cushions and sleep, sleep, sleep
If I could share a big can of stinky goodness, shrimp flavored, with you
If we could chase the red dot toy together, round and round until we got tired
If we could pull the fev-vers off the fev-ver butt mousies and get high on the
nip together.
Then I’d have the perfect Valentine’s Day. The perfect ANY Day!
But, dear Brandi, I guess I’ll just have to dream you close to me...

Happy Valentines Day Sugar Pie! I’ll see you at the party tonight.

Thursday Thirteen - Things I'm Thankful For

Mommy told me she got back with everyone who emailed, and that she'd give me extra stinky goodness, I came out of hiding. After I enjoyed my plate and got a big drink, I asked mommy if I could post 13 things I'm thankful for even though it isn't November. She said anytime is a good time to take stock and be thankful for what we have. So here it goes.

1. I'm thankful I started blogging because I met so many nice kitties and beans in this unique community
2. I'm thankful for really deep snow because it closes mommy's work and makes her stay home with me!
3. I'm thankful for all bins, chairs and tables under the the windows in my house so I can see outside any one of them whenever I want
4. I'm thankful for warm blankets and couches and a nice big bed to sleep in
5. I'm thankful for my mommy & daddy
6. I'm thankful the sun came out so I can lay in a warm sunbeam to take the chill off (it is really cold here!)
7. I'm thankful the water pipes didn't burst when they froze Tuesday night
8. I'm thankful the water pipes thawed with hot water so mommy and daddy could take hot showers (peee-eeww)
9. I'm thankful I have the mostest sweet, pretty kitty as my Valentine (*blush* hi Brandi)
10. I'm thankful I have been healthy for a 3 1/2 months (*crossing kitty paws*)
11. I'm thankful for stinky goodness every day
12. I'm thankful for all the beans who love me
13. I'm thankful that I have a loving, warm, inside, forever home when I look outside and see cold snow and wind.

PSSSSSSSSSSS Be sure to see my Monday & Tuesday posts about how to help dear Mu Shue with his treatment bills!!

Web Woes Wednesday

Hi! Hendrix's mommy here. A few people have commented that they sent an email to his 1hendrix@fuse.net address but the emails weren't received on his end. Fuse can get backed up sometimes if a lot of mail is coming at once (he is only using 16% of the email box so it is nowhere near full).

If you sent an email and I haven't responded yet (we lost power off and on with the snow & wind yesterday so I'm just checking my Tuesday info now), please resend your email and I'll get back with you today!

Hendrix is very upset & embarrassed this happened, but I told him I'd make sure it is all better today. He said he'd hide in the closet until then...

Tiny Tuesday

Mommy thinks it is funny how sometimes I look like a big tough Man Cat and sometimes I look like a teeny tiny kitty. I say stop feeding daddy so many chicken wings & nachos during football season and I won't look so small!

Don't forget, if you want to donate to

Mu shue Pooh King Cat's treatment, email me at 1hendrix@fuse.net and I'll give you the info!

Purrs and snuggles to my Sugar Pie

Brandi and her mom that Carol feels better and it gets warmer soon!!!

Mu Shue Monday!!

Hi! My post today is extra special and I’m very excited and hopeful. As a lot of you know, our dear friend Mu Shue Pooh King Cat is very ill and his treatment (Radio) will be around $1200. His dear Mama Laura takes care of abused and neglected children and this is a very important jobbie, but one that is more spiritually fulfilling than financially rewarding.

She babysits baby beans to make ends meet and even sold the heirloom jewelry her grandmother left her. She’d been saving for this treatment, but when Mu Shue was sick a couple of months ago, she used the money she was saving to get him better. The Radio people want $600 up front and $600 when the treatment is given and Mama Laura has exhausted all of her options to get the money together.

My mommy doesn’t make neat stuff like pretty jewelry to sell, and I don’t have cool outfits like Skeezix I can auction off, but we would like to take up a collection for Mu Shue’s Mama Laura to help with some of the cost.

If you decide to donate, my mommy will make you a neat bandanna just like my Bengals one (I have a cool patriotic one too!) in your favorite color, or something seasonal (4th of July, Halloween, Christmas fabric etc). The bandanna fits over your collar so there is no icky knot to mess with (or use matching ribbon to tie it on if you are a kitty who doesn’t like collars).

It has been a tough year for a lot of us so I don’t want anyone to feel pressured to donate. As we all know, prayers, good thoughts and healing kitty vibes can make a lot of difference as well and I know there is lotsa’ good “kitty power” out there.

Mama Laura has a PayPal account and if you’d like to send her a donation directly, I also have her mailing address I can give you. Even if you or your beans would just like to send a letter of support, let us know!!!!

Please email me at 1hendrix@fuse.net and we’ll get Mu Shue better in no time!

Thanks in advance to everyone who helps with donations or good healing thoughts. You’re all wonderful!
Luv, Hendrix & Mommy Amy

We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone.

PS Please keep a good thought for Carol, Brandi's mommy who was just released from the hospital. Virtual prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs and headbutts for a quick recovery Carol.
