A Tribute

One year ago tonight, my mommy's family gathered together to say goodbye to a dearly loved friend. As Comet was leaving for the Rainbow Bridge, his family slept over on sleeping bags on the floor to be close to him.

On July 7, 1990, Mommy's family (her parents and brother Kevin) went to get a dog from the shelter. They came home with two 8 week old Golden Retriever puppies who had been left in the "drop box" overnight. Why two? So mommy and her bro wouldn't fight of course.

Comet

Sebastian

No words can describe how much these dogs were loved. They were so much a part of the family and couldn't be apart for more than 5 minutes. They always had to go to the VET together, especially Comet, because he wouldn't be left behind.

This picture was taken in Oct. 2002.

They lost their Sweet Sebastian (white bandanna) to a fast growing tumor in Feb. of 2003 at almost 13. The family didn't believe Comet would make it without his brother, but with a lot of love, and a visit from an animal communications person, Comet lived 2 1/2 more years. He passed away at over 15 years old on Oct. 10, 2005 with the help of a nice VET Tech. She came to Comet at home so he could be on his favorite couch surrounded by his family. He will always be missed.

Thanks for so many good years my sweet Comet Head!

Sad, it's always very sad to loose an animal. But he really reached a big age, for a dog I mean and surely both had a happy life. They look so nice on the picture.

That is such a lovely story and sums up nicely how much a pet can bring to someones life. They look like wonderful dogs who were much loved.

My cat, Bob was a rescue cat too. I think he was abused as he used to cower sometimes for no reason but he bonded to me very well and has followed me around like a puppy ever since. That was 14 years ago now!

Thanks for coming to visit my blog. Always nice to see a new visitor :0)

How furry nice for the VET person to come to their home for this. They do it for peoples, so they can be in near the things and people they love, good to know some do it for the four legged members of the family too.

My mommy's eyes got leaky reading this.It reminds her of Pumpkin's last day.Mommy layed with her all night. In the Morning her dad took pumpkin to the vet to be put to sleep. When mom bent down to say goodbye.Pumpkin touch the side of her face with her Paw and licked a tear off mommy's nose.It was the hardest time of mommy life.Pumpkin had seen mommy through the tough high shcool years. She was a great dog and is still in my mommy's heart forever.
